Mervyn Haywood starts Pack ‘n Stack (Pty) Ltd. as a small regional business in Krugersdorp in the North-West of South Africa. The business began with two men and a truck.

1980’s

A reputation for reliability sees the business rapidly expand clients and territories.

1990’s

Expansion continues. Clients demanding a national service drives regional agency relationships and alliances begin to take shape.

2 000

A national business is formed under the Pack ‘n Stack (Pty) Ltd. Banner.

2005

A benchmark year when 25% ownership of the business is transferred into a Staff Trust. A significant milestone that shapes a unique and enduring culture of commitment and pride.

2010 –
2015

Category diversity grows from food, groceries, personal care and snacking to include general merchandise, OTC medication and beverages

2013

The CA&S Group purchases a majority shareholding in Pack ‘n Stack (Pty) Ltd.

2015

The business undergoes major re-branding and begins to build a digital footprint.

2017

Pack ‘n Stack (Pty) Ltd., now migrated to PnS enters the hardware channel, establishes a dedicated division for a leading global food business and commences its first pilot project for a retailer.

2019

PnS acquires a large competitor business, significantly enhancing scale and capacity. The PnS Group is born.

2020

The PnS Group expands its service offering into Retail Support Solutions acquiring a stake in a specialist POS logistics management business and establishing a JV with a leading Brand Activation business.

2021-
2022

PnS acquires a leading Wholesale specialist service business and wins a large milling client. Investment in people and technology accelerates. The business is awarded Top Employer status by the Global Top Employer Institute, which it sustains.

2022

The CA&S group, with dual listings on the Botswana and Cape Town exchanges moves its South African listing to the main JSE Board.

2023

The PnS Group acquires a pharmacy specialist business and wins a major global liquor client, building on the solid growth trajectory of the business. Neuron is implemented, and the digitisation of the business accelerated.

2024

After almost five decades, the group is committed to looking ahead, remaining future-fit and a trusted execution partner for our clients and customers. By embracing ongoing advances in technology and artificial intelligence, we will continue to deliver on client expectations, ensuring dynamic delivery and lasting impact in the years to come.
