ESG

We are committed to striving to build a better future that unlocks the potential of our people and communities while protecting our environment. At PnS, we prioritise responsible corporate citizenship, which includes social and environmental responsibility and robust corporate governance. As a member of the CA&S group we have adopted a comprehensive ESG framework to guide our group-wide approach to sustainability. This framework allows each business to identify and focus on areas of material importance.

Environment

We aspire to minimise our environmental footprint by monitoring our impact, emphasing energy efficiency, and promoting waste recycling. We are committed to reducing our overall resource consumption, with a particular focus on digitisation and managing and reducing fuel consumption across our operations to lower our carbon footprint.

Social

As a large, people-centred employer, our ESG efforts prioritise making the widest possible social impact, both internally and within the communities we operate in and depend on. We recruit, develop, and reward talented individuals to ensure the long-term success and sustainability of our business.

Our external Social Economic Development efforts focus on education and supporting children and youth throughout their learning journey, from primary schooling to vocational or tertiary education and ultimately to employment. PnS actively promotes inclusion and diversity through initiatives led by the Inclusion and Diversity Committee (IDC).

Actively sponsored by senior management, the work of the IDC has enabled the achievement of significant milestones, including a Level 1 B-BBEE rating. Various inclusion focused programs have become integral to our operations, fostering a representative and welcoming workplace.

Governance

The group is committed to upholding the highest standards of corporate governance. The board serves as the custodian of governance within the group, bearing ultimate accountability for the performance and sustainability of the business. This commitment is aimed at ensuring ethical and sustainable operations that deliver value to shareholders and other stakeholders.

The group governance framework comprises key committees including Audit and Risk, Social and Ethics and the Remuneration and Nominations Committee. The framework also underscores the principles of transparency, integrity, growth and sustainability.

We prioritise respect for our employees, customers, suppliers, and all other individuals by ensuring the privacy of their personal information, making ethical and respectful use of data and technologies, and applying appropriate record retention to personal and business information. To uphold these values, we have invested in world-class software to track and manage our POPIA compliancy effectively.
