Heritage is not simply about the past, it’s vitally about the present and future. A heritage that is disjoined from ongoing life has limited value. While heritage can be a divisive force and a tool for resistance, it can build bridges and enable better understanding, acceptance and cohesion.
This Heritage day, we choose unity, and stand up as a collective, as South Africans who come together to build better. Whist we always acknowledge our bitter past and the legacies we continue to struggle, we choose today. We choose to live out and forge a new heritage of reconciliation, economic development and peace. Happy Heritage Day 2021, and Happy 45th Birthday, and beyond Team PnS!
