In the pursuit of our purpose to have an impact for our clients, our people and their communities, we believe in recognising the individuals who help to set PnS apart. Our Pyramid reward and recognition programme runs monthly and quarterly, culminating in annual Awards that are given regionally and nationally to the best of the best. The individual Master builders in the business who are our real stars, and consistently exceptional performers. They make a significant contribution to building both our business and our reputation as reliable, quality partners that deliver excellence, consistently.
So, what sets them apart?
The programme is based on the premise that excellence is a continuous process. It is doing ordinary things extraordinarily well, not occasionally, but daily. The programme is themed around the stages one may go through to build a house, or in our case a ‘House of Excellence’. The stages build, are progressive and the quality of the end result ultimately is a testament to how each of the building blocks along the way have stacked up. These 6 stages are expanded on in the visuals below.
Heroes of the Month
Nominations are made monthly for staff who have accomplished something extraordinary. Achievements that exceed expectations and have delivered significant impact for the clients or the PnS business. The numbers vary from a few, to multiple individuals and occasionally to a team. Certificates of Achievement are issues, along with a token company gift item.
Quarterly Values Warriors
Ongoing employee performance reviews through the year include ratings for the way in which their actions reflect our big 5 Values. It’s in our day to day behaviour’s that these ways of working are embedded into the fabric of our business culture. Managers have the opportunity on a monthly basis of awarding virtual behaviour badges to individuals to recognise and endorse these behaviours. Employees with two or more badges in a quarter are singled out and celebrated with some form of reward. These currently are fun in-store “Trolley Dashes”, where they get a 60 second window to run through the aisles and fill their trollies, as long as it is only with client products!
Client Rewards
From time to time we work with clients who want to reward staff for brand specific achievements which we assist to facilitate. It is important for shared (syndicated) staff that we collaborate to develop a way of doing this that doesn’t compromise or compete with other clients they are working on. These heroes are logged, with all of the accolades through the year contributing to the portfolio of evidence we look at annually to judge top performers regionally and nationally for the year across job roles.
Annual Master Builders
Annual rewards begin in the regions, across divisions and roles. The best Merchandisers, Field Marketers, Area Sales Managers, Sales Representatives, Regional and Divisional Management are identified using bi-annual performance appraisal scores. Finalists are selected and then regional and national winners for each role. There are a number of additional categories for Support Staff as well as Key Account Managers. Ten special Craftsmen Awards go to staff who are exceptional ambassadors for the business and shining lights for our Values. The three apex awards are:
- The Builders Builder – Peer nominations for the best team player
- Share the Light Award – For outstanding qualities of teaching, coaching and mentorship, and
- The Architects Award – For the person who has had the biggest impact on changing the shape of the business
